I also think it is a great idea to cement these values before you have kids. It is much harder after they come along! I'm posting a link to one of the traditions my family does. It is a Christmas morning thing, but it helps to focus for a moment on Jesus. Also, my very favorite Christmas book is Miracle on 10th Street by Madeleine L'Engle. It is out of print, but I am sure you could find a used copy. It has tons of Advent meditations, but also ones on Epiphany, etc. It is a collection of her poems, essays, fiction excerpts.
