Photo Friday: Whimsical Whimsy

January 30th, 2009

I haven’t participated in one of Homeschool Diva’s Photo Fridays in a while but thought I would jump in again. This week’s theme is “A bit of Whimsy”. So, here’s my whimsical, playful photo that makes me smile today. Make a wish…

All Together Lovely

January 20th, 2009

A little while back my blogger friend, Amber, had a beautiful idea for a few photographers and other creative types to form an artist collective and put some stuff on Etsy to raise money for a charity called Lemonade International. I of course jumped on board. Now the Etsy store is up and running and has 12 beautiful photos on it from different photographers. I encourage you all to check it out and if something strikes your fancy purchase it – not only will you get a beautiful photograph; you’ll also know that you are helping people.

Photo Friday: Super Women

January 9th, 2009

These two might look like normal women sitting on these steps casually talking and enjoying the scenery of Prague, but they are far from ordinary - they are my very own super women. These two women have influenced my life in so many powerful ways and I’m quite certain that they will continue to do so. Tara Malouf and Kathi Gable are my Super Women.

Go check out Amber’s site at Homeschool Diva for her Super Women photo.

Advent Art Exhibit Opening

December 15th, 2008

The art exhibit is in full swing and will be going on until Thursday. We did have to reduce the hours a bit, but it’s a good thing and I’m feeling good about where it’s at and what we’ve learned in the process. The best part of the week so far has definitely been the Opening on Thursday night. We had a great turn out (I didn’t get a head count, but I’d guess around 45 or so – we gave out over 60 tickets for it so I guess we could have had up to that many but I think it was a little less). Here are a few pictures from the Opening so you can get an idea of what I’ve been up to lately:

I’ll leave you with this Advent Prayer by Henri Nouwen that a friend just shared with me yesterday. I hope it speaks to you as much as it spoke to me:

Lord, Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!”
Amen.

Photo Friday: Tell a Story

December 5th, 2008

For Photo Friday this week Amber asked that we post pictures that tell a story. Click here to see her beautiful picture telling the story of a young girl growing up

So, here’s my picture telling a story.

This picture was taken at a little baby shower for my friend Jane. It was a very special and intimate time that I will remember for years to come. At the end of the time we all gathered around Jane and prayed for her and her husband and their baby and all that lay ahead of them as a family. This picture really captures that moment of prayer. I love that it also captures this really sweet look of love and anticipation from Jane.

Lord, may you continue to bless and protect baby Sofia and her beautiful parent’s Jane and Martin.
