Alright friends, things are moving forward fast with this auction and we are getting excited, and of course a little scared too. Bryan recently shared this quote with me from the book Resilience and I find it so appropriate for what I’m feeling about this auction:
“Every worthy challenge will inspire some fear.”
Organizing this auction to raise money for a wheelchair accessible van for Sage feels like a worthy challenge. It’s something I’ve never done before and I’m not sure how it will go, so of course there’s some fear, but also so much hope. You all have responded with such resounding enthusiasm, making me hopeful for what’s to come.
So, here’s how you can help make this auction a success for Sage:
Share. Share. Share.
If you aren’t sure what to share, here is a post you are welcome to use:
A friend of mine is hosting a 72 hour online auction to raise money for a wheelchair accessible vehicle for her little girl, Sage. I’d love for you to join me in participating. Bidding opens August 23rd at noon (PST) on bethstedman.com/wheels4sage and closes at noon (PST) on the 26th. I hope you will join me in helping to give this little girl the gift of mobility and transportation.
If you want a little help creating a more personalized post, here’s a template you can use:
[Tell how you know Sage, maybe sharing a story about the first time you met her]. Sage’s parents are raising funds for a wheelchair accessible van through a 72 hour online auction, Aug 23-26. [Insert ask - for example “Help make Sage mobile” or “Join the effort” or “Help them reach their goal” ] by visiting bethstedman.com/wheels4sage.
You can find images and social cards for the event (with info and the web address already on them) that you can download and use here. Each image/card is named with the social site that it’s sized for, so you can grab exactly the right thing for your favorite social media site.
EDIT: There’s also a printable flier that you can download and print from the above link. Give them out at your office or hand them to your neighbors, because, great as social media is, sometimes it’s just not the same as a face-to-face invite.
To help spread the word, use #wheels4sage when you share.
Thank you all for helping make this little idea a reality. We can’t wait to see what comes of it.
Grace and peace,
Bethany
